Die Stadt Ulm hat beschlossen, die Bauwerke der B10 zu erneuern. Die Restnutzungsdauer der Brückenbauwerke Wallstraßenbrücke bzw. der Brücke über Blaubeurer-Tor in Ulm beträgt max. 3 bzw. 15 Jahre. Vor allem bei dem Brückenbauwerk -Wallstraßenbrücke West- wurden statische und bauliche Defizite ermittelt.
Die Brücke über Blaubeurer-Tor soll durch einen innerorts verlaufenden Tunnel ersetzt werden. Dies hat zur Folge, dass die gesamte Verkehrsanlage -Blaubeurer-Tor-Ring- umgestaltet werden muss und die bisherige Wallstraßenbrücke durch einen verkürzten Neubau ersetzt werden muss.
